Mr. Birnbaum joined Kohlberg in 2010 as an Operating Partner. He is currently Chairman of Alacrity Solutions and U.S. Retirement & Benefit Partners, and is a member of the board of directors for EngagePEO.
Previously, he served as Chairman of Chronos Life Group and U.S. Risk Insurance Group, Inc. and a member of the board of directors of Risk Strategies Company, which were portfolio companies of Fund VI and Fund VII, respectively. He is responsible for investment thesis development, company diligence and portfolio company operations management in the Financial Services sector. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Birnbaum enjoyed a 30-year career in a variety of consulting and operating roles at Citibank, KPMG, Mercer Management (now known as Oliver Wyman), and AmeriQuest Capital Group.
Mr. Birnbaum received both a B.A. and an M.S. from the University of Rochester.
